Google’s Konami Code Easter Egg Unlocks ‘Cheat Mode’
The Konami Code strikes again. Go to a Google search bar and using voice, search for “Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.” And just like that, you’ll have unlimited free Google searches.

Of course this is tongue-in-cheek. It’s just the latest hidden gem discovered within Google’s tools.

This isn’t the first time the search giant has used the Konami Code within its products. When inputted into the Pixel Chromebook, the LED strip on the lid of the laptop puts on a light show by blinking a random series of colors. The infamous code also unlocks an achievement in Google Play.

This series of buttons was a cheat code used in many classic Konami video games. When used in Contra for the NES, it would unlock 30 extra lives, which I needed just to get to the Waterfall level.

Google is known for hiding these sorts of humorous video game-themed gags in their product. Try searching for “Do a barrel roll“. That’s my favorite.
